Drums roaring, voices screaming, and bass guitars ringing; Battle of the Bands 2019 was considered “The Greatest Show.”

The Battle of the Bands hosted by Seaman High School’s Key Club based its theme “The Greatest Show” off of the hit movie “The Greatest Showman,” and five bands put their best foot forward in an attempt to win. These five groups included, Untamed Mustangz, Wet Gravel, Femme Fatale, Right Side Down, and Kevin.

The night started off with MCs Megan Carter and Ashley Sadler introducing bands, immediately leading into Untamed Mustangz’s set with band members Mr. Randy Crome, Mr. Ryan Bach, Mr. Zach Dingues, and Mr. Sean Riley.

Wet Gravel, featuring Taylor Godbout, Chase Morstorf, Cameron Meinholdt, Austin Feldkamp, and Josh Warren took the stage opening up with a strong number. At the end of their set, an encore was requested and so they followed their initial set with the classic “I Love Rock n Roll.”

After a big ending by Wet Gravel, Femme Fatale entered the stage ready to rock. Singing songs with strong female roles and themes, the crowd sang out loud their songs. After an encore from Femme Fatale as well, Right Side Down came into the light.

The group made up of Riley Senne, Cameron Smith, and Gerod Schafer played classic rock songs with a big finish of smashing a guitar on stage.

The final band, Kevin, performed last. With fans filling the audience, the group included a “Bird Box” version of a song the group wrote themselves. After their final song, it was time to announce the winners.

Prior to revealing the winning band, Key Club recognized the real motivation for the event. Mrs. Candi Haeffner and her family lost their home to a fire over winter break. With her involvement in Key Club and Vikings United, the group believed donating all of the proceeds to her family would be a great way to give back to the community.

With the total check from ticket sales and the one minute coin drive done during a brief intermission going to the Haeffners, Key Club members were able to present a check for $2,035.51.

Once the check was presented, Kevin was announced as winner with Wet Gravel taking a close second place.

Fans left with smiles, getting pictures and signatures with bands, and posting videos on social media. This year’s Battle of the Bands indeed put on “The Greatest Show.”
