March 6, 2019 will forever be a special day for senior athlete superstar, Megan Skoch. She signed her National Letter of Intent to the University of Saint Mary’s Track and Field team. Megan was joined by fellow teammate, Riley Fisher, who will also run on the USM Cross Country and Track and Field team.

Skoch has faced much adversity through her years at Seaman High. Fighting through an ACL and knee injury for her first two years of high school track set her statistics back, but Megan was determined to come back better than ever.

Not only does Skoch lead the track team, but she is also a four year varsity starter for the Girls Basketball team, who played in the first round of the state championships in Emporia on her signing day. Several attendees could easily see that Skoch made a difference in her athletic career when Coach Welch spoke on her accomplishments.

“Megan has pushed through injuries and still wanted to run, but we always told her she need to be healthy first” Welch said.

Morris Skoch, Megan’s father, also drew the emotions of the crowd when he explained how proud he was of Megan.

“Megan has taught me so many lessons through her life, but my favorite one is how she has never given up. She is fearless in life.”

Skoch had a whirlwind of a day, from a ceremony dedicated to her, to a heart-breaking, season loss to McPherson in the state basketball tournament. But, she is looking forward to supporting her teammates at Seaman in the years to come.

“I just want to thank everyone for all the support I’ve ever received”

Megan Skoch will most likely always be remembered for her time at Seaman High for her academic and athletic records she set during her career.
