Wintry mix in the morning; light rain in the afternoon

After several weeks of generally tranquil weather, a very active pattern is arriving for the busiest travel week of the year in the United States.

A significant winter storm will produce near-blizzard conditions today across northeast Colorado, northwest Kansas, much of Nebraska, northwest Iowa, and southern Minnesota. If your travel plans take you north today, consider waiting until the snow has ended.

Here at home, we should creep into the warm sector today with highs in the 50s. A few flurries are possible tonight on the back side of the system, but no accumulation is expected.

Wednesday looks dry but cooler with highs trapped in the 40s under a mostly sunny sky.

Another storm system arrives just in time for Thanksgiving Day with a mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and snow possible in the morning. Precipitation should transition to all liquid by the afternoon as temperatures rise to the mid 30s. Drizzle could linger through the evening hours.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely on Black Friday, especially during the afternoon and evening.

Saturday will be sunny but windy with highs in the 50s. Sunday is looking cooler with highs around 40 under a mostly cloudy sky.

Have a great holiday week!
