Wintry weather this week

Unseasonably cold with accumulating snowfall possible

Very cold with snow

It will be feeling like winter this week. This morning’s low of 37 was warmer than the next several mornings will be. To go along with the abnormally cold temperatures, there are a couple of opportunities for wintry precipitation over the next few days.

Temperatures will hardly budge today with highs in the low to mid 40s. Scattered rain showers should begin to develop late this afternoon, which may require you to run your windshield wipers for the drive home. This light precipitation may eventually mix with and change to snow by around sunset.

A dusting of accumulation is possible, especially on grassy and elevated surfaces. The ground temperatures are likely too warm to cause any significant impacts to travel, but use extra caution on your morning commute Tuesday just in case there are isolated slick spots on the roadways.

Tuesday will start dry but cold with lows in the 20s and temperatures reaching the low 40s during the afternoon under a mostly sunny sky.

Another round of wintry precipitation is likely Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow are all possible. Total amounts remain uncertain, but there is a greater risk of travel impacts with this second system.

Bundle up this week!
