South winds will be strong today with gusts exceeding 40 mph at times. Along with plenty of sunshine, that should help temperatures reach the low to mid 70s this afternoon.

Scattered showers are expected to develop in central Kansas this evening, bringing us a chance of light rain overnight. The risk for thunderstorms is low. Many locations could receive a tenth to quarter inch of rain by daybreak Saturday.

Sunshine looks to return by Saturday afternoon. With lighter winds and highs in the mid to upper 60s, the first half of your weekend should be gorgeous.

Another round of rain is possible Sunday evening. Along with heavier precipitation, lightning appears more likely.

Monday will feature stronger winds with highs in the low 60s under partly cloudy skies.
