Storms likely this weekend

A soggy weekend is in store for northeast Kansas with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms, but first, we have to get through one more very warm day. Highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to near 90 once again today under a mostly sunny sky. There is a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm, but most locations will likely end up staying dry.

The chance of rain is not much higher Friday, but a stray thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. Better rain chances arrive late Friday night into Saturday as a frontal boundary approaches the region. A few stronger storms are possible Saturday afternoon. It will not be raining the entire weekend, but having an umbrella handy would be a good idea. Any lingering precipitation should move to the east by Sunday afternoon. Total rainfall amounts are expected to range from one to two inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

Dry conditions return as autumn begins on Monday with high temperatures around 80.

Have a great weekend!
