SHS Student Holiday Movie Rankings

During the holidays many people like to watch Christmas movies. Here are some of Seaman High’s top 10 Christmas movies.

The top 5 movies in order were – Home Alone, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Polar Express, and The National Lampoon Christmas Vacation.

This did not really surprise me because I would say that those top 5 movies are really popular and most people like them.

The next 5 in order are A Christmas Story, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Santa Claus, and finally A Christmas Carol.

The last 5 did surprise me a little bit because I thought that more people would like A Christmas Carol but it turns out that I was wrong.

If I had to do my own ranking of the Christmas movies, it would look very different.

My top 5 movies in order would be A Christmas Story, Home Alone, The National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

I ranked A Christmas Story number one because my family always watches that movie on Christmas morning when opening presents, and I always look forward to watching that movie any day.

Obviously Home Alone is number two because it is just a great movie all around.

Coming in at number three is the National Lampoon’s Family Vacation because the comedy is stellar and also the Griswolds remind me of my family sometimes.

Elf and How the grinch Stole Christmas are four and five on my own list because, while they are good movies, they aren’t ones that I would immediately choose when I go pick a Christmas movie.

My next 5 movies in the ranking would be, in order:  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Santa Clause, A Christmas Carol, and The Polar Express.

Now after reading that you might be in shock asking, wow why in the world would you rank those movies like that? Well, I have my reasons.

I chose Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and A Charlie Brown Christmas as six and seven because those movies are okay Christmas movies and the type of movie to be able to fall asleep to on the couch.

The Santa Clause is just a good movie to watch every once in a while, but not often.

Now the last two movies I just do not like in general. A Christmas Carol is actually kind of creepy to me; the animation is weird which is why I don’t like it.

You probably are most shocked by my number 10 which is The Polar Express. For me, The Polar Express is just a boring movie. I literally can’t get through half of that movie before turning it off. Also, the animation is creepy so I think that is another factor in it.

Overall the high school ranking is not bad at all! I would give it a 7/10 rating compared to my own ranking.
