Life is crazy, and sometimes it throws you an unexpected curveball. This summer, Seaman High School student Jackson Cobb and his family had their lives flipped upside down during a simple x-ray.
Jackson’s little brother Lincoln had been complaining about his leg for weeks. After taking him in to get an x-ray, doctors discovered a tumor inside his leg. Lincoln had surgery to remove the tumor weeks later.
The diagnosis was osteofibrous dysplasia, which can affect the growth of the bone and is very rare for a person that young. His procedure was successful, and the Cobb family was met with immense relief.
Anyone who knows the Cobb family knows that baseball is a huge part of their lives. The Kansas City Royals heard about Lincoln and invited him to come down for a day and watch a game.
He arrived at Kauffman Stadium hours before the game to watch batting practice. Lincoln also got to meet some of his favorite players such as Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez.
The players filled his cast up and down with signatures. Lincoln enjoyed his time there and said, “I was sad about not seeing Alex Gordon, but he hit a grand slam that night so it was okay”. Jackson was also able to make the trip with Lincoln and said it was a cool experience and he was happy for his brother.
Lincoln is eager to jump back into his fast-paced life. However, he has to get bone scans for the rest of his life. He and his family are grateful everything went well and things should be back to normal soon.
He had been recovering in a huge leg cast requiring his brother Jackson to carry him places. Lincoln recently had that cast removed, so expect to see him running around at sporting events.
